Brian McDermott has today clarified that he has not ruled Lee Peltier out ahead of the game against Reading on Wednesday, with Peltier having gone off injured as a result of a groin strain on Saturday. However, and more interestingly for Leeds fans, McDermott has also confirmed that player of the year Sam Byram came through yesterday’s development squad clash with Birmingham without any problems, and is therefore available for selection in the immediate future. This will be a major boost to Leeds, as Byram is one of the side’s more talented players.
Byram has not yet been available to the first team this season, but a gradual move through ever-longer development squad appearances seems to have had the desired effect, bringing Byram back to a fitness level whereby he can be selected again. Byram is the sort of player the diamond is built for, a dynamic full back who offers equal amounts going forward as he does defending.
