Infographic: Leeds United’s men on borrowed time
According to this handy pullout guide in the current issue of The Square Ball magazine, Aston Villa’s Barry Bannan became the 54th player to join Leeds United on loan since relegation in 2004. Actually, he’s the 55th, as shortly after finishing the layout I was reminded that cover star Neil Kilkenny made one start on emergency loan prior to signing from Birmingham City.
Did I say 55th? Twitter’s @AndrewHaigh was rightly sure that Richard Naylor joined Leeds on a one-month deal from Ipswich Town, bringing the total to 56. But never mind that, because as @stephendeacon says, Tresor Kandol somehow did enough to impress Dennis Wise during a 2 month loan spell from Barnet.
Alright, alright, alright – so that’s 57 varieties of beens, has-beens & never-weres at Elland Road since 2004, but is it all of Leeds United’s men on borrowed time? I doubt it, and if it isn’t, please do say so.

Stephen O’Halloran? He signed though he didn’t play
Oh wait, there he is.
Peter Sweeney also played 1 game as an emergency loan I believe.
http://tiny.cc/yb8q0 No loan details on Peter Sweeney, I think he arrived on a permanent deal. And what a signing he was.
Andy O’Brien before he signed permanently in Jan!
Also Adam Clayton was briefly on loan in August before deal made permanent!
Thanks, you’re right on both counts! You’ve made me look like a rank amateur, but it’s up to 59 we go. Can anyone think of a 60th? It’s mad to think that at one point I thought I’d got them all when I was only at 48.
Didnt we have Ugo Ehiogu on loan briefly?
Oooh nevermind just seen him there at the end.
Robbie Elliott was with us for a while on the left??
We made a couple of attempts to sign Elliot and when he eventually arrived it was on a free transfer in January 2007. Unlucky!
If I’m not mistaken Blackwell also brought in Kevin Pressman but I’m not sure whether he was out of registration at the time,
That’s right, Pressman arrived on “non contract terms”, whatever they are.
Never mind a centre fold, you’ll have to dedicate an entire magazine to them at this rate.
Was Lee Trundell a loan or just out of contract somewhere? Don’t think we bought him did we?
Ok just seen him.
61…Jake Livermore!
I used to be recommended this web site by way of my cousin. I am no longer certain whether this post is written by way of him as no one else know such distinct approximately my problem. You are amazing! Thank you!
