Robbing old cunt

Postby thechubbyone » Tue Apr 20, 2010 9:32 am

Corporate packages are now available for Charlton. Hurrah! Apart from the fact that all of the corporate stuff is actually outside of the stadium. These are normal seats in the Leeds end that are being bundled with a load of old shite from the club and sold for £225 to get around the fact this is a loyalty game. An absolute cunt's trick.

For £200 you can come and stay with us (train fare paid to Croydon) and I'll give you a lift to the game and buy you a few pints!

Seriously....I'm fucking skint!

beautiful.

i wonder how many of the tickets were set aside for this scam, sorry wonderful opportunity as opposed to being distributed on a loyalty basis?

i reckon the markup for the club must be a good £100 per ticket sold in this way... so 100 tickets would give a nice little £10k profit...

all very annoying, if we were on the verge of going belly up and were driving the business really hard in all areas it'd be forgivable, you know, extracting a bigger contribution from some of the club's better-off and less-loyal fans, but it grates painfully alongside the vastly bigger sums being frittered away on failing radio stations, legal bills, and plans for hotels that will never be built...

Na, he's not even hit 80 yet. He'll not retire, just keep going to the bitter end and I recon he'll have a good decade in him yet, he'll live to see the 2018 world cup, or 2022 if thats when we get it, as so long as Leeds is a host city for it he has grand plans to live for, paid for by someone else.

to be fair, a tenner for some food and a live, uh, what's the word, a live audience with bates, harvey, and hughesey isn't necessarily bad value?

Credit card bookings, yeah Ken? Jesus Christ, £8 for kids, if they're members. I can only assume kids that aren't members have to sweep the fucking chimneys before they're given half a cup of orange cordial and allowed to stand at the back.

To echo what I just posted on waccoe-

That was depressing. I'll do a full write up in the morning, but for now I still feel too angry about the whole thing.

I think I was most disappointed by the attitude of the other people there. Legitimate questions were being asked about the ownership of the club when someone piped up with something along the lines of "why don't you invest then", and that drew a round of applause. I think some people think we went down there for the good of our health. £10 and several hours of my life to get all worked up for no real answers is a very strange way to have a good time.

For the record, I asked questions about who would be paying for his court case - mumble mumble, it's not over, programme sales are high. "Yes, but how many programmes do we need to sell to recover 1.5mil in legal bills?" Mumble mumble, football is all about opinions. Good answer, ken.

The second one was piggypacking on the thorp arch question to further press about why no plans were in place before, why we waited so long with the council, what was it they were unhappy with? Harvey spoke for about 5 minutes, but nothing relevant seemed to come out of his mouth.

Absolutely astonishing. At the end there were a load of people going up to him basically saying "don't you listen to those nasty men, kenneth."

I reckon a very large number there tonight probably take the official club coaches, enjoy the bingo and approve of the no alcohol rule.

Yes, apparently so. An incredibly well structured deal from a brilliant businessman. I don't actually believe it, but as he's said it he should be held to account over why this is the case when Man City were apparently offering the same amount up front.

I guess that rules out the possibility that the interrupters were plants then? It would be easy enough to have pro-Ken types in the audience on orders to shout down any hostile questioning but a bit elaborate to choreograph the post-event arse licking.

What? What?! How? Surely, surely, surely, any transfer fee includes an up-front no-conditions-attached honest-to-god actual lump sum? Bates might be a poisonous old man but he's not stupid. Why would he "sell" Delph for no immediate return? (Bradford must be pretty pissed off too).

Either:
1. To piss Bradford off?
2. There was a fee up front, but just enough to cover Bradford's cut?
3. To get round as much of the bradford fee as possible - perhaps they have no right to a share of add ons?

the 'no money from delph' claim is too preposterous to dignify with well-thought out questions or comments.

but it's a good example of why KB prefers a 'live', off-the-record, format such as last night or phone calls or whatever, because no proper record is left of the crap that he's liable to come out with.
