Have to admit I've just gone back and done a spot of 're-jigging'.

b@stards.

the one i can't quite work out is brazil's opener against north korea, on paper [and, i suspect, on the pitch] that should be the only really obvious out-and-out 'turkey shoot' in the whole tournament, and as such a source of many goals, but... well, i can't work out who brazil's most likely scorers and assisters are? kaka is priced at 10 units but has been crap this season [i have him in my team right now but may take him out]? robinho's alright but a silly little show pony when it comes down to it... who are the best brazilian bets, out of the attacking players?

Seen as I've taken your honduran tips, I'll answer that by saying I've (currently) opted for Kaka and Baptista, but I have no real idea who the main striker is.

When was it that Norway freaked Brazil off the park in their opening game? Was that '98? I doubt PRK will manage quite the same 'robust' game, but I nevertheless find it quite interesting to see what will happen.

Must admit I really can't work up the focus to address these fantasy footy things but I'm almost tempted, on this occasion, to pick a random bunch of anybodies from the 'better' sides, in no more than 5 minutes, and see how many of you I can beat.

There's a random squad picker option, could try that a few times til you like the look of the squad you get.

I'm pinning my hopes on a N Korea Vs USA final, with a good nuking instead of fireworks.

Robinho seems to be doing the business in the warm ups and Luis Fabiano is their main striker. But I suppose the goals could realistically come from any of their front 4 (probably Kaka, Ramirez, Robinho, Fabiano) or even the full backs (Maicon, Dani Alves)

 Swappsies, yes; useless stats, yes, the rest no. But you do get to scour fifa.com for some of the stickers, which gives a similar satisfaction to shinies. But in my mind, being free makes up for a lot of it!

Sadly Kisnorbo isn't in it.

Quiffy is right.

Do you get that sense of crushing disappointment when you've just bought 4 packs only to find that you already had all but 2 of the stickers?

I remember stickers being an odd currency when growing up. I used to absolutely love buying them, but trying to fill a book takes up every last penny of pocket money. I don't think I ever actually completed a book.

When I was at the last world cup, my mate and I ended up staying with a German bloke and his family. All 3 kids were well into the stickers thing so we used to regularly return pissed in an afternoon having bought 30 odd packets. Treated like returning heroes, we were.

i was once priveliged to know a lad who had this strange talent for sniffing out packs of sticker that had more than their usual quota of shinies in them, just by picking the pack up and bending it slightly, almost imperceptibly, he was able to tell... i suppose the shiny-stacked packs were that tiny bit stiffer... a precious gift. i've not seen him in years but fully expect that he's risen to be CEO of a FTSE 100 company or similar by now.

[edit - i have a strange sense of deja vu... have i told this story already? it's one of my favourites, although after a few pints i may have been known to claim that the gift was in fact mine]

Is talking about stickers even sadder than collecting them?

When are the fixtures out anyway?

(1) I simply refuse to believe that you've been anywhere near the western hemishpere; and
(2) They probably do have stickers, somewhere. Or cards.

With you on all that, mate.

I've found myself amassing a stack of those cards they're giving away at Tesco (spend a tenner, get a pack of cards). I'm almost at the point where I'm going to buy and albumn and start buying the packs. Almost. However, my reasoned mind is telling me that it's all for kids and as an adult, I should behave more responsibly and be more grown up. My childlike mind is jumping up and down in the queue at Tesco, demanding I purchase as many packs as my wallet will allow

For no apparent reason, I was handed about 20 packets of these at that wretched shop last week. None of the players - except for England's - are pictured in their team strips. Instead, their heads have been Photoshopped onto plain t-shirts of the appropriate national colour.

You can have them if you want.

My goodness! You're right, I hadn't noticed that!

20 packs ... ... hmm, that's a virtual gold mine of cards, perchance I may have some of them and can swap with the fit bird at work who's collecting them for her nipper!

That would be the danger. Now I'm not 11 and 25p isn't a lot of money (I'm something of a big shot) I just know I'd be tempted to spend £20 a time on them.
