Leicester game

Postby bramley white » Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:13 pm

A few things being put out on various sites re the last game and one big fuck off protest, I didn't think there would be any interest with the amount of apathy there seems to be out there after our latest excuse for a match but it would appear there is. Any suggestions to make an impact?
Young Bramley put something on his facebook about hiring a plane and banner Bates Out, apparently it would cost around 900 quid for two hours flying over Elland road during the match, he got nearly two hundred yes's to that but asked me to ask you esteemed chaps for your views so what do you think and would anyone be interested in contributing say a fiver if something official can be set up re funds
Ready to be shot down in flames (and hopefully not the plane)

Not gonna happen, planes are not allowed to fly in air space where large crowds of people are gathered. Also the SC tried the old banner attached to a plane gig (my original suggestion but balti took the credit) and it failed miserably as the pilot was not allowed anywhere near or low enough for punters to read it.

Anyway, bit early innit Bobby?

COME ON LEEDS!!!

So how come Blackburn fans managed it ? :?

I have to say I seem to remember a plane flying around Elland Road before with a banner, I think it said "Bates Out" or something of the like? Maybe about 3-4 years ago. :?:

And quite frankly a waste of money, protests should be seen, not 500ft in the air.

OWETB's points sound fairly serious.

does this say anything useful?

http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/Rams-fans-plan-banner-flight-Forest-ground-fails/story-13894424-detail/story.html

i'd be in for £25.

if the cost's £900 you'd need about 50-100 contributers & therefore a better way of collecting expressions of interest than message board posts.

And were prosecuted for it too.

Whilst I am in favour of a protest I am always a bit sceptical as to the impact it has, the last one did receive a certain amount of publicity which helps obviously but unless you hit Bates where it hurts in the pocket as in boycotting matches,a one off protest like this only has a short term effect. I just think it would have to be sustained in the way Blackburn fans did it but even then they havent achieved their objective trouble is boycotting matches can damage the club and playing squad probably more than Bates in other words I am not sure what action would make him sit up and take notice and invest in the team.

Not sure what would work, apart from trying to storm his fancy new chairman's suite thing and kicking the fuck out of him.

Is there any chance of it being televised due to a late Leicester play-off push? The Trust's plan of hi-vis jackets spelling out "just fuck off" would then be a goer.

If you are going to do a protest then here is a suggestion which would get some publicity.

This would require some one on the inside at ER.

Everyone who is fucked off with the way Bates is running the show donates their latest Leeds shirt, they sign it with a relevant message intended for the Chairman. If enough shirts are collected and someone needs to do the maths then the shirts are laid out on the pitch to spell 'BATES OUT'...it is simple but effective, and with some good photos it is put out to the papers and the blogosphere...just a thought.

All in favour of a protest. We all know it won't shift the old goat but so what?
The plane gimmick is plane daft imo.
If they are goign to raise a grand for a protest how about buying a containerload of these and handing 'em out before the game?

It's a good idea but I just can't see anyone on the inside in a position to do so, agreeing or allowing for this to happen, it would take time to set up and I am not sure, even if some one on the inside did agree, how it would be done without the club finding out before it was completed. Oh and btw we may have just told them!

Edit: Now I think about it, they could hand one out free with every TSB mag, increase sales no end: Win-win.
