"thought he ran the BBC"
"He's welcome in Leeds any time"
"we go drinking somewhere in Manchester together. Not"

Met him a few times in the last couple of months as my youngest plays in the same team as one of his kids.Seems a decent enough bloke to those stupid enough to beg for pics and autographs

Kid can play a bit too

This might be scandalous promotion, but for the benefit of anyone who hasn't read it, the Danny Mills interview in TSB was pretty good. I saw this as someone who wasn't too keen on the guy, but he came out well from this in my eyes, especially his forthright opinions on David O'Leary (which we had to take legal advice on). You can get the pdf of that mag for a quid still: http://www.thesquareball.net/shop/back- ... 0/issue-7/

No promises that we won't stick the interview on the blog for free one day, but you get the rest of the mag too and it's only a quid.

I did not know that, having never needed to download one.

Wazzock. Not heard that for ages. For some reason, I feel the need to say it using a Liverpudlian accent

yeah, i think mills seems a decent enough bloke.

i dunno how much of a success he'll be able to make of the radio thing. i daresay mills was annoyed at the slightly better gigs that robbie savage seemed to be getting straight after he retired. mills is much cleverer & more listenable but obviously isn't anywhere near as 'zany' or 'colourful' as RS.

ps i never stopped using 'wazzock' & have consistently done so on here every now and then.

can you prove this claim? Perhaps with the benefit of a search engine facility?

it looks like bobby d, of all people, was actually the first to use it on here.

Spoke to Norman Hunter about the boy Mills just after he left the club....... Lets just politely say Danny Mills attitude would not have been tolerated in 60/70's by Billy and the others

David O'leary tried to give him a nice soapy massage but Mills chinned him.

yeah, i dunno. with, er, having GCSEs & having kids so young/prefering to hang out with the older, more sensible, players like big nige, batts, wilcox, i doubt that mills was ever seen as 'one of the lads' at leeds, but in terms of doing his best on the pitch, [from the outside anyway] possibly looking after himself better than most, and doing charity work, i'd say that mills, whilst possibly one of the more overpaid players even from that squad of the time, would be much less deserving of criticism than many of his ****witted colleagues.

mm. i doubt that an evening's radio work as a guy who chips in with a few words here & there alongside a commentator, usually for non blue chip northern fixtures only [alan green or the bloke who presents 606 or whatever no doubt gets more] earns you very much more than a couple of hundred quid, frankly. chickenfeed for a bloke who spent 10 years contracted by leeds, boro, & citeh on an average wage north of £2m p.a. i think he's most likely doing it because he likes football [or, possibly, as a stepping stone to a tv job that would pay good money, but frankly i think he must doubt that he'd ever get that - it's an extremely competitive field, & tv companies particularly seem to like ex-pros who are more telegenic than mills and/or who have a lot more medals & a bigger profile]. i think he's from a footballing family, e.g. his dad was on teh coaching staff at norwich when he was a kid.

That is a fair point but surely after you had finished a career doing something you didn't enjoy and saw as a job you would look to do something you enjoyed especially when like mills you are a financially secure
