Except Norwich. They are gutted. Shedloads of them on Twatter sending best wishes etc. Ha motherfucking ha.

Weren't we were sending best wishes when Andy Hughes left..... but he was shit. TBF Ive always thought Drury has been decent when Ive seen him but now time and age is against him, and he is a little injury prone from what I understand. Is he the new Michael Brown... bought 3/4 years too late?

When we were linked with Joel Ward it felt like we were assembling a squad with potential to improve, but with enough ability now to help take us forward immediately, this feels.... Well this feels like the desperate spin of a coin. Heads Colin Wanker takes the glory, tails we are fucked.

Pretty sure the Norwich fans on Twitter claiming to be "devastated" were on a wind-up.

Don't think they were taking the piss. 20,000 turned up to his testimonial recently so must've been well liked.

There's a difference between being "well liked" and "still decent". But we'll see. He's a left back. Can't see this working at all!

Yeah, he's been there 11 years, n played 350 games for them, Norwich fans must hate him....

Not overly excited about this signing though, Norwich came up from L1 at the same time as us, they've moved on we've moved backwards. I note that he started 12 games for them last season, n only half their games the season they won promotion to the PL, I guess he can do a job, but it's not the sort of signing that'll win us promotion. Larry will probably have more money to spend this summer than Warnock - who'll probably make a profit in the market after selling his "must keep" players.

If he's come in saying "I must keep these Mr Chairman, if we're to have a go" then having to sell them would surely be enough to justify a walk, right?

I am becoming quietly optimistic we might keep most of them :drunk:

That's what I thought last week, but did you hear his interview yesterday? He sounded very guarded, not his usual enthusiastic self, to me this signing does not look like the sort of player we'd be signing on a two year deal if major investment was on it's way in. It looks like the same sort of player we have been signing for the last two years at the same time as the club millions in the transfer market. While clubs with 30% of our turnover sign our players.

Long way to go, but I am loosing hope fast, and am starting to dread the thought of Bates first interview of after the summer. Come on Bates, be a nice chap will y, pretty please, just fucking go will you??

Well I never. Never even on anyone's radar, right?

33 years old, 2 year contract. Warnock likes him because he's 'quick'. Isn't Aidy White 'quick'?

If it helps at all, we used to have an Andy Drury at Lewes (now plays for Ipswich). He was known as 'Jukebox'.

Oh, the lolz. :wheels:

Behave. Steady , experienced defender who we've picked up on a free. All the opinions of those who have actually watched him regularly seem to be positive.

weelll....

this chap's 34 in august. other than WGS i don't think i can ever recall us having a 34 yr old outfield player who was capable of making any real contribution to the first XI.

in the recentish past we've had guys who were much better than drury in their primes, uh, alan thompson, tore andre flo, steve stone, & so on, who joined us at a similar age and... weren't disgracefully bad but weren't really capable of all that much either.

when you add the fact that being "quick" is/was supposedly one of his attributes, it does all sound immensely unpromising.

Yes, unpromising sums it up nicely. Looks like the sort of signing Grayson made because he couldn't get anyone better for the money he had and/or the wages Bates would offer

The thing is, even if this takeover IS real - it takes as long as it takes. What if it doesn't go through until September or later? We simply cannot afford to have the current squad as it is - signings need to be made now. Bates isn't going to throwing the kitchen sink at it, so we are currently having more of the same. If the takeover does materialise then we might see much bigger investment before the transfer window or even in January.

Very positive thinking I know but we just have to wait to find out what's going on with this investment/takeover situation - Warnock doesn't want to hang around waiting either. Would Drury have signed on a 1-yr contract instead? I guess not, he might have angled for a 2yr and that's what we had to offer to get him.

At first I was underwhelmed but now I have just realised that we could sign Messi and it wouldn't change my feelings.

I just want the old cunt gone. Dead or alive, just as long as he's gone. Everything that happens at this club is tainted by his stench.
