Neil's No-Hopers Knobbling Robins CK

Postby eric olthwaite » Fri Feb 03, 2012 1:49 pm

Are we going to get that wacky caretaker bounce effect, then?

More to the point, will we get to see The Silky Skills of The Robbie Rogers?

For obscure reasons, I'm going to be in Weston-super-Mare tomorrow. Did think about trying to nick a Day Release and pitching up but, I dunno, just can't face it somehow.

John Cleese grew up there innit? He said that the fact it was bombed during the war was proof that the Germans have a sense of humour.

Neil Redfearn. Bless him. I do recall him having a pretty impressive purple patch in the mid/late-90s when Barnsley were in the Prem, kind of like the Charlie Adam of his time. Seem to remember him getting a fairly big money move to Charlton before disappearing without trace.

All of this has very little to do with his prospects tomorrow I should add.

Do they have undersoil heating at Ashton Gate ? (presumably in this day and age they do now have electricity in Bristol...)

No, they have a sheet and a couple of guys staying up all night to make sure the pitch doesn't freeze by using some heater. I'm not even joking.

they've not got undersoil heating. best case scenario it's called off, the start of an unbeaten run for NR.

Funnily enough, that was my first thought when I heard about our caretaker. :(

Didnt Redfearn manage Northwich Victoria to relegation? Its one small leap for man, one giant leap of faith from Bates.

edit.

19 games as Halifax manager won 5 drew 4 lost 10
26 games as Scarbro manager won 5 drew 7 lost 17
9 games as Northwich manager won 0 drew 1 lost 8
1 games at York city he drew

Onwards and upwards then.

given pete's comments on players earlier lets hope he has no say in the the line up, it'll be interesting to see what the line up is tomorrow .

Bit birdy innit?

Apparently in the aftermath of the failed assination plot on Hitlers life in 1944, his first words to anyone (His secetary, Traudi Junge) were : I have been Saved, Destiny has chosen me, providence has preserved me, it is a sign I must see my mission through to the end.

Go to it Redders

This is an odd fixture. On the one hand I think this and the next few games were very, very winnable with the team that Larry put out against Birmingham. Unfortunately Mr. Redfearn may wish to bring in some older players because of all bollocks about playing the kids etc (despite our kids being better than the shit which has congregated in our reserve team). I hope Neil says bollocks to Bates and keeps the team the same (maybe stick Smith in) because the last fixture was something of a freak as far as I'm concerned (our first loss of the year in fact). I suppose you could make a point for O'Dea to be dropped for Bruce, O'Brien or Bromby but even if any of them are decent for one game, we know what will happen the week after.

One very slight silver lining is if we do get a new manager they might make Snoddy the Captain, though I suspect the order to overlook him came from on high. Maybe if O'Brien does come back he'll be a possible choice, though it remains to be seen how shit he is. Although he was good in his last game, he was woeful at the start of the year and presumable badly lacking match fitness. Maybe Clayton, though again the question of his contract presumably makes him unlikely. Hopefully not Brown anyway.

That Jill Dando has a garden there. She was a Leeds fan you know.

I could never go into a game hoping we lose, but supposing we did and say Kilkenny notched, or got an assist, and then launched a verbal rebuke via the media to Kenneth after match, it definately wouldnt wouldnt be as hard as normal to rationalise. What an awful thing to be thinking on the eve of a game I know, Im slightly ashamed but this is honestly how I feel.

Watching Peter Lorimer in his second spell was a highlight of my footie growing up, one of the most immensely gifted footballers Ive ever seen to this day, and now look. Im not sure if his behaviour is not the saddest aspect of the whole debacle. Ive argued for him, and was prepared to forgive him until now, being so far in credit with me for what he did as a footballing god for Leeds United, BUT twisting the knife on Simon, bloody hell. He could have just said nothing, but he chose this. Im genuinely upset to lose a hero.

Kenneth what a fucking shambles, what a pointless shame. Its embarrassing.
