This whole Falklands thing...

Postby MightyWhite » Tue Feb 14, 2012 11:59 am

It's about time the Argies fucked right off, no?

Blocking Falklands fishing boats, whinging about us sending ships and a Prince down there, getting all their neighbours to weigh in with their irrelevant opinions.....

I say call the fuckers bluff and march on Buenos Aries.

They know a thing or two about steak though... Best leave a sizeable force at Fray Bentos.
You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

I have to be honest, I don't have much interest in the Falklands. No nothing about the dispute, why we are there or why we want to be there.

Ain't there enough war and shit in the world?

Will blow over. It's now about oil.

Mate at MOD (now a CBE hem hem, or 'Cunt of the British Empire' as he calls it) was in on the first Falklands thing. Hope I'm not breaking the Official Secrets Act.

As I remember it went something like this:

MOD: Mrs, T, Argies making noises. Don't rescind order to remove battleship from Falklands.
Mes T: Order already taken. Argies won't upset Ronald.
MOD: Mrs T, Argies still making noises and moving troops. Please send sub to Falklands.
Mrs T: Don't think Ronald would like that. Galtieri great stalwart against Communist dominoes etc. Also, expensive.
MOD: Mrs T, Argies getting very worked up. Please send order in code Argies can crack we've sent sub, then rescind the order in a code we can crack but Argies can't.
Mrs T: All under control.
MOD: Argies on their way...

A summary, and from memory, but I think the gist is right.
'What terrible marking from Tottenham!'

Youre probably not breaking the act unless he told you the information and then made you sign the official secrets act. He on the other hand ......

Saw that! Un-fucking-believable.

I admit I'm not an authority on the whole FI situation, but I have been reading a lot of the recent news articles on the various back and forths between the two nations, I have yet to see any kind of reasonable argument as to why the Falklands might possibly be rightfully Argentinian. What's their angle??

well, france, britain, and spain all had colonies there at various times.

i believe [not based on any recent or detailed research] that: (1) spain might back then [what - 200 to 300 years ago?] have had reason to dispute the way in which britain's colony superseded its own; and (2) any 'spanish' territory in that part of the world would have automatically become part of the new 'argentina' when it was formed a couple of hundred years back.

it's all a bit daft though. no group of people identifying themselves as argentian or even spanish has lived there for a terribly long time, & even all the way back then it was relatively a fleeting [compared to the current british 'occupation'] thing.

The only thing in our favour is that the spicks have been butchering thier armed forces at almost a fast a rate as us.

They (the Argies) will be able to send out a mob of hungry, highly trained conscripts again though :thumbl:

They did kill 255 of our lads though, hungry and untrained or not. The Marines from their 5th Marine Batalion were as good as ours, and better armed.
