No, they're fucking not!
We're not a massive club. We're an ex-League One club with no serious plans or aspirations.
We don't have fantastic support. The numbers are going down monthly and ER is like a fucking library half the time these days.
All this living on long gone past glories is an embarrassment, frankly.
It's only a 'massive challenge' managing Leeds because the club is in such a fucking mess.
I beg to differ, although if things don't change at the top of the club, it won't be that long before you are spot on with your assessment.
The support is dwindling through a combination of poor results/performance, high prices, cunt of a chairman (not necessarily in that order). I fear for the next generation given our shocking approach to young fans, if that isn't addressed then our potential support base will start (continue?) to wane. Likewise, the same factors impact the atmosphere, you can throw in the general trend of quieter crowds up and down the country as a factor too.
On the pitch we're shit but thats temporary (potentially, but in all probability is only going to improve under different ownership).
The important factor in assessing the size of a football club is its reputation within the game - we're still a lot of teams cup final in this division and they mostly still hate us pationately up and down the country, even at clubs we've not faced for a number of years now. It makes us a draw for players, managers, and sponsors alike (unfortunately the chairman scares most of these away again). The day this changes, I'll be seriously worried.
Warnock is not wrong when he says we're potentially a top 6 side in this country, he's just deluded if he thinks its achieveable under present ownership and any time soon.
EDIT: Having though about it a little bit, to say top 6 is perhaps over egging it a bit. I struggle to name more than 5 I'd say are above our potential level, key things being equal (ticket prices, running costs, no debt, self funding), but I can name plenty I'd put on a par with us, top 10 might be a fairer statement.
