It was far from good, worst of the 3 and none have been great, but not sure it was quite that bad! Interestingly, you've given it its point for something I considered to be a negative point, she's not a patch on Megan Fox and spend the entire film screaming right up until the end when suddenly she found some composure and contributed - in a predictable and extremely cringeworthy way.

Hmm, well possibly harsh but it gets about -20 for starring that odious little prick Shia le boof and another -several for tarnishing Malkovich and Turturro. In fact, none of the characters have any redeeming features. You are right - RHW is a particularly appalling actress but was literally the only thing of any interest. The film's not saved by the special effects either which - though technically spectacular - are ludicrous. I was practically shouting please let it end in the scene when the building collapses one way and then the other and they bounce off pillars at speeds that would fracture most people without even collecting a bruise. As for Fox v Whiteley, it's a personal prejudice of mine but (at the risk of alienating you cunts) I generally find tattooed people who are a bit thick repellant.

An easy watch I suppose, nothing special. Two secret agents get suspended and end up dating the same woman, some amusing incidents, expected better but was still OK. Has Tom Hardy and Reece Witherspoon in.

Really? I saw the advert for this and it looked fucking awful.

Errrr mm yeah maybe 6/10

Still quite looking forward to seeing this one if I can get to the cinema before it has gone, bit busy this next couple of weeks

Safe House with Denzil Washington, great film in my opinion. Story is based around a rogue CIA agent who buys and sells intel, and this time receives information on wide scale corruption throughout the security services and is therefore generally hated by everybody. Good chase scenes, lots of gunshots, crashes etc. to keep you entertained and also a decent story line.

I was watching summat on the telly last week and there was a piss take of a scene from 2001 a space odyssey, a film that I haven't seen for years. So I went on ebay and got a copy, I'll report back just how poor it is no doubt.

I saw 2001 in the cinema just recently for a friend's birthday. It's still a little bit overblown.

Kill List. Decent, pretty nasty british hitman thriller, then three quarters of the way through goes absolutely crackers and sort of like the Wicker Man.

Pretty good, but still dont have a bloody clue what was going on.

One for the money - bloody shit. I'd give it 2/10.

And the 2/10 is for Catherine Hiegl's fantastic breasts otherwise I would have given it 0.

Hugh Jackman in a predictable film about robot boxing. It really is not as bad as it sounds and quite enjoyed it

Just seen this expecting it to be a bit crap, but surprisingly good, highly recommend it and agree with Andy's 8/10.

Just watched Warrior. Pretty good. Not a UFC fan at all, but I enjoyed it. Pretty gritty with a decent performance from Nolte.

Watched Tintin with the kids this afternoon too, fucking bizarrely clever animation, the kids (6 & 18 months) loved it.

Nottingham Contemporary had a screening last night of LA Plays Itself, directed by Thom Andersen. It was done in 2003, basically a photo essay of Los Angeles comprised entirely of Hollywood film clips, with narration. It was fucking brilliant, the vast majority of the films I hadn't seen, but it was a great way of looking at the place, its architecture and how it's depicted in films.

It's bloody long though, about 3 hours, with an interval. And we somehow found a way of screening the two halves in the wrong order, but no one seemed to mind. It's up on YouChoob in several parts, the first bit is here.

Just watched Avatar on C4. Jesus, what a horrible, horrible piece of shit that was.

Every fucking all-American cliche imaginable. Guess what? The Marine cripple hero becomes the leader of the poor downtrodden backward-but-yet-wonderfully-spiritually-elightened natives.

I thought Titanic was awful, but that cunt James Cameron is definitely going on my dead list next year.

Why do Americans make films again? You'll have to remind me.

You should have put him on this year. You never know, something "terrible" might happen yet.

Peace, grasshopper. Just big money making big dumb shit. Always thus.

Follow the small money and the non-fiction if you want quality US movies just now IMO.

Started it last night, finally gave in to the hype and borrowed a friends DVD. Got to the point were the girly blue meanie saved mariney blue meanie from the weird dog lizard things. utter bollocks and turned it off.

Eric if you made it through the whole thing, I take my hat off to you. :king:

Watched Frost-Nixon the other night, that is worth a watch. We seem to be watching a film a night at the moment in this house, tonight was batman dark knight, was pretty wank and nearly went off a few times, but made it to the end, twas o.k.

Avatar was a technology showcase, not a film. I can't imagine why you'd bother watching it on tv.

The original Toy Story was very much a technology showcase but still a decent film with script, narrative, characterisation etc. It is possible to have both.

Never watched a 3D film at the cinema and I doubt I ever will. Fuck that wearing glasses shit.

A few thoughts on the most recent posts:

You miserable fucks, though Avatar is really, really over-rated it isn't an absolutely appalling film you lot are making out, I would say its an average film.

3D films are wank, I always go for the 2D version if possible.

The Dark Knight is a great film.

Frost Nixon is a good film but one I would only watch once

Apparently they are remaking total recall, this time with Colin Farrell as the lead. Now this is certain to be shit, I bet it's in 3D too.

I quite enjoyed Avatar myself, certainly not great and extremely predictable but watcheable, enough so that I planned a 2nd viewing with it being on TV yesterday, but then completely forgot about it.

I suspect we have very different taste in films, I happen to rank The Dark Knight amongst my favorite films and will be making an effort to see The Dark Night Rises in the cinema rather than wait for the DVD like I do with most films.

Anyway, recently watched Warrior, not bad really already covered on this thread with ratings I agree with. Watched the Whistleblower last night, not my choice and to be honest I spent half of it playing Angry Birds in Space, but the missus enjoyed it :thumbl:

P.S. I recently invested in a 3D TV, mainly because I needed a new TV and 3D cost very little extra. It'll barely get used in 3D mode but is pretty impressive for Gran Turismo 5. As for 3D at the cinema, saw the 4th final destination in 3D, wasn't impressed, and the illusion was shattered when a bikini clad lass in the background walked across the screen, she was blured no matter how much I tried to re-focus. Also saw Ice Age 3 in 3D with my daughter... I'm of the opinion that 3D works very well in fully animated environments as the whole lot can remain in focus.
