What came across to me listening to the interview on Bates radio after the game was the way Colin said I'm putting pressure on Shaun to make sure he delivers. I haven't listened to it again but Colin sounded a bit exasperated to me at having to apply pressure alreadyy. One thing I can say is if this is the case with signing number 1 then how much chance will he have of being listened to by signing number 7 or 8? Were screwed!

PS I'm with Musta on the Knockers issue, prepare for hoofball on a new previously unheralded scale from the man who taught Hoofwell the dark arts!

Soft furnishings!
It's all about the shagpile and flock, lads.
Once we get that sorted everything will fall into place.
Shirley somebody on here can put the club in touch with a reputable seller of quality floor coverings at a sensible price, or perhaps somebody has a few offcuts ...
Then we can start The Big Push.
I was correct!

Exactly this was an opportunity missed, imagine us with a new tranche of high profile sponsors to add to the impresive portfolio that already includes Flamingo Land, we could add Anyans discount soft furnishings of Armley, Kettleys Furniture of Yeadon and the jewel in the crown of course "The Famous" Mikes Carpets.

We'd be a power to be reckoned with then alright.

to be honest I could get some really, really good stuff for a monkey per square metre. We could do the whole freaking pitch for £150k, near enough.

Yeah 'cause QPR played nothing but fucking hoofball all last season when they pissed the league, didn't they?

We're playing like we are now because Colin clearly thinks they're not good enough to play any other way. If and when he brings in the players he wants and makes how own team and he then plays hoofball I'll complain. But please note the players he's already talked about as being essential to re-sign on contracts. Not hoofers, but our better footballers. Just give him some time.

Well he's wrong. We've all seen them play a different way and do well.

And the hoof ball game against Watford showed how incapable they are of playing that way too.

There's no way that wee little hobbit Ross McCormack likes running around after those hoof balls all the time. Look at the size of him. Compare it to when him and Keogh were firing balls at each other's feet, creating those little triangles with Snoddy, LJW, Clayton and Nunez etc. When we retained possession and at least tried to play it around a bit, we looked a lot better and overall we got better results. I'm not saying Warnock has fucked it forever but he's surely culpable for some of the shite we're playing since Doncaster.

Not too much to add to what's been said about the performance. A very average team with little chance when down to 10 men against a no more than decent Reading. Entertaining though, and couldn't fault the effort. When did we last see a Leeds full back overlap and whip a cross in? In fact, something we were pondering in the pub afterwards, who was the last decent Leeds full back, excluding loans? That was prompted by seeing Ian Harte looking completely comfortable and delivering endless great balls into the box. To think he was the player we used to slag off more than any other 10 years ago....

The fans performance was the best of the season away [of the games I've been to]. Simply brilliant. It was noticeable that Colin made sure every player came over afterwards, not that should've needed to be told. But for me, it was "we are singing for Leeds, not you bunch of mediocre fuckers". They've done very little to deserve us this season.

Haven't we been shite [at least] since LJW left? N before that weren't we screaming for investment after a disaster of a summer in the transfer market? We HAVE no central midfield for fucks sake, Clayton, Pugh n Brown to choose from? At least Grayson had LJW, (n half this board didn't rate him til he'd gone). Ballers wrote that Graysons teams looked like they hadn't been given any instructions, they'd just been sent out n told to play footie? Like a Sunday league team?  :o :?

In my opinion we've been mediocre for a long time, it's just we've had match winners in the final third to bail us out. How many games did Gradel and Becchio win for us on their own last season? And if they were off form you had the second string of Howson and Snodgrass.

I used to say it on this forum all the time that we looked like a team with no strategy and no plan. I have every faith that Warnock will change that and we'll end up with a proper cohesive team that will take us past 7th place next year.

Hmm seems to me that Colin Wankerers was quick to take the credit from Rederererererers after the Donny comeback, so it seems fair enough that he should hold his hands up and say the absolute shite weve played since albeit occasionally punctuated with huff and puff and Rash Rash is something he is culpable for too. :study:

Chief executive Shaun Harvey said: 'We have 18 games to go this season and are still within touching distance of the play-offs, but felt with the transfer window now closed we needed to make the change at this time in the belief that a new managerial team will be able to get more out of the existing squad of players and make the difference.

Additionally it should be remembered that Simon's team garnered an additional 2 points in the 4 matches against the 4 teams Redererers managed us for

AND

Simon's team gained a whopping extra 6 points against the teams that Colin has managed us against.

What we would give for 8 extra points and a play off position right now. (Howson disclaimer applies of course) :wheels:

Do we all watch the same team?
In 2010-2011 we could not believe that SG could not get the defence sorted, because that was all that was keeping us from staying in the top 6. When we started 2011 we could not identify any major improvements at the back, our midfield looked worse, and then we lost mad Max. What were our expectations - not much.
SG's solution was clearly to try and score more goals than we conceded - and up until xmas we generally did. Fuck knows what happened then (LJW), but all the players started getting mouthy, and it all got away from him.
However you look at it, we normally played better, goal-scoring football under SG.
But he never addressed the defensive issues, and for that alone it was not unfair to let him go.
Colin comes in and immediately opts for a more defensive goal-limiting formation. No decent ball retention (no LJW) so safety-first means hoof-ball and we immediately waste Snodgrass and McCormack talents. The very few times that we successfully string 2 passes together in a counter-attack you get to see the potential. But then the cunt sends out a "defensively improved" team that concede 7 at home to some relegation dodgers.
So that is all behind us.
We went into this game "with an eye to the future" - players needing to prove themselves and what do we get. Piss and vinegar someone said - thuggery more like it and hoofball. [Maybe this belongs on the how shit are we thread. Somewhere there was a comment about the 80's Div 2 team being worse than this. Really? ]
Colin can use 3 subs to find out more about players - and he gives them 5 minutes or less.
Webber? Surely he would start now that White is not - but no he must not be fit enough for a full game.
What about the the jolly Rogers - worth a run finally, nothing to lose?
He may be saying stuff we want to hear (he was always a gobshite), but neither he nor his team are doing anything to indicate he is an improvement. :(

Results since LJW got injured

Larry -D, L,L,L,W,L,D,W,L
Redders - W,L,L,W
Colin - D,L,D,W,D,L,W,L,L

In Jan Harvey failed to clear out the rotten wood, in Jan Bates refused to back Grayson even though he had promised to reinvest the LJW, Gradel etc money .. The problem has fuck all to do with SG or NW, we all know what the fucking problem is.

On reflection, Colin's TV comments about the officials will only make Leeds Utd even more unpopular with the FA and the spotlight will again fall on 'Dirty Leeds' following some robust and some eye watering 'tackles' - Pugh's should have walked and Brown trod a fine line but he could have gone as well, it just makes it harder in the future to get the rub of the green IMO. It's ok being a 'hard' team but at times it seemed players were determined to get sent off such was the siege mentality. It was ugly football. This season is gone, I do have faith in Colin but the squad needs major surgery and if Bates does shell out then surely one season will not be enough for a 'new' team to become settled and gel in time for promotion in one season. If Bates doesn't stump up the cash during the summer then Colin will be off and then what? We'll be fucked.

Should be an interesting summer.

I thought the Leeds fans were great yesterday. Surely we, the fans deserve success. You listening Bates?
