If anyone can Colin can, at least he won't take no nonsense or lame excuses from Bates, it will be back him or sack him or he may just walk. For me he is trying to get results with what he has been given this season, call it a honeymoon period if you want, the time to judge Colin imo is next season when he has assembled his own squad of players. We all harp on about the dross in the team and list those players we want to see leave the club because they are not good enough yet criticise the manager when he can't wave a magic wand and make those players into Championship contenders. But if you want Barcelona football I don't think that is ever going to happen under Colin, he has been brought in to do a job of getting us out of this division, the play off's if possible this season which is not going to happen now obviously, or the top two next season and I don't think playing pretty football is how he is expecting to achieve it, it's a bit like the West Ham situation they don't like the way the cunt Allardyce plays his football but they will take promotion no question, am sure we will all settle for the same with Colin next season.

Aint caught up with the whole thread but you are fuckin bang on right there. Everyone else, especially Mustamuncher, for fucks sake get a fuckin grip. I don't like Colin either but you are full of shit you babbastabbin cuntoe. :)

I didn't see all the game as we had some family over but what I did see was hardworking lads trying their best. They may be mostly shit but we had a go.

One suspects, Musta, that you're too much of a purist to ever appreciate a Warnock team.

I, personally, enjoyed seeing a piss and vinegar Leeds team get a bit of blood on their boots. At the end of the day we're a very average team, in average form, away at a team that has swept all before them of late. We had to try something, especially once we went a man down. It almost worked. Had Snodgrass taken his chance some might have called it a strategic masterclass by Warnock.

I want to see Leeds play winning football above anything else, I don't care how it happens. I'm prepared to give Warnock this season for free, on the proviso that he gets a team in that does win games next season.

But Bobby when, when when?

Is it ok to Judge

1/ Warnock destroying Tom Lees in the press and the lad's confidence looking absolutely shattered since then.

2/ Warnock bawling into the face of a kid who has only just turned 19 in front of 23 thousand fans and countless TV viewers when he made a mistake

3/ Warnock taking our best defender this season and brightest prospect, and shoving him in an unfamiliar position on his wrong foot

4/ Warnock declaring before last weeks match that if he'd realised that Leeds would still be in the race then he would have tried to sign some players and have a go

5/ Getting us to play hoofball, and stating when he came in that Becchio would be spending the rest of the season winning headers.

6/ Whinging like a girl at various referees so far

7/ Leading us to our record defeat at home.

8/ being more pleased with us kicking the shit out of the opposition than trying to play football

Thanks in advance if you could let me me know when its ok to comment on these things, ta.

When Thompson trudged off and Colin approached him and put his hands on his shoulders I really thought he was about to console him or put an arm around him knowing he was just a kid who simply got carried away with the situation. Bawling him out like that did not do Colin or Thompson any favours - it made Colin look like a bully - the stupid twat! Also going on about referee's every post match interview is pathetic and doesn't do Leeds Utd any favours either.

That said, I still feel Colin given the financial support can do something but for fuck sake Colin, drop all the public slanging of players and officials.

Still waiting to hear what Colin said to Thompson; was expecting to hear it from Colin, presumably the lad will keep his gob shut. Absent-mindedly wondering whether it was as destructive as it looked, and as all are presuming.
You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

Shouting at ZT was fair enough IMO. It's not like bawling someone out for making an honest mistake such as a striker missing an easy chance, a defender being beaten in the air by a smaller opponent, or whatever. He did something stupid.

The Lees stuff was just weird IMO. I guess though that if you hire a manager with a mutual understanding that he'll retire in a year and a half you can't really expect him to focus his energies on the youth, trying to squeeze out improvements and learning that he mostly won't be around to enjoy the benefits of.

I find it curious that Colin praised Pugh for his performance which was basically kicking the shit out of Reading for the match yet appeared to have ago a Thompson for doing the same  Everyone seems to agree that Thompson's tackle was not as bad as atleast 2 of Pugh's too.

I have to admit though I wasn't 100% convinced Colin was having ago at Thompson mind, I did consider he was grabbing hold of him and saying along the lines of "keep your chin up son" in the abrupt fashion he is known for.

I have said this from day one though - Warnock's appointment was merely an attempt by Bates to take some of the heat away from him, initially fans would get behind him but if things were to go wrong fans would start to question Warnock and later turn against him because lets face it, its Warnock and he is quite easy to dislike as opposed to Grayson.

This business of giving Warnock a "free pass" until the end of the season -- I don't get it. No-one's calling for his head or anything but it is important to make sure that the pressure on the club to improve this summer is kept up. There's no room for slipping standards, which is why it does no-one any favours to shrug our shoulders at Warnock's thuggish pragmatism, even if there's nothing to play for at the moment.

If we don't want to see this kind of stuff served up next season, we have to object to it now. Greeting the rough-house rambunctiousness of Brown & Pugh with hearty roars of approval might do more damage than good, however superficially satisfying a bit of blood-and-thunder is.

I don't have any idea that we should always play beautiful pretty-pretty football -- a la the ever-irritating delusions of West Ham & Spurs, amongst others -- but I've no desire to see us turn into Stoke City either, even if only in the short term.

Re Thompson & Warnock: Colin's demanour made it fairly clear that he wasn't telling him to "keep his chin up", I thought.

The idea that Warnock - 30 years in management and as pig headed as they come - would be swayed by murmers of disapproval from a few fans is, frankly, laughable.

Well, that's why it should be more than "murmurs of disapproval", isn't it?

He makes plenty of comments about how great it is to have the fans behind you. I'm sure he'd at least notice if it wasn't there.

So by your reckoning we've got a pig-headed manager who won't be swayed by the fans, working under a pig-headed chairman who won't be swayed by the fans - and you're trying to sell this to me as a good thing?

I guess it depends what their philosophy is and where it takes us. The latter's pig headedness has led to 7-8 years of disenchantment, divisiveness and stagnation. The former's pig headedness might lead to us kicking and strong arming our way into the Premier League. Proof is in the pudding, as they say.

Well, y'know, I wouldn't mind us being Stoke City in the short term if it looked like a successful strategy.

But it doesn't.

I don't know, Christmas. Ya know, a reasonable amount of time for a manager to bring in his own players and implement his ideas upon the team

Well, I reckon that anyone who purports to be a decent football manager should be able to get the best from any set of players, rather than be dependent on assembling their own team. But the fact that since Colin joined:

- We've played some shitty football, and
- Haven't been successful.

Puts me in a position where Colin now has a hell of a lot to do to convince me he's not shit.

Fair enough.

Warnock has a method, and generally it works ok. You can only go by the course and distance form and he has that in spades. Of course he's limited - hence your QPRs upgrading once they actually get promotion - but I'd say there aren't many managers who you can drop on any club and expect immediate success. Mourinho is one, but even Ferguson and Wenger needed a few years to build their teams up.

I don't know, perhaps I'm just a hopeless optimist. I've decided to get on board with the Warnock 'plan', and if it goes tits up I'll be the first to come on here and hold my hands up - as I have done dozens of times before :joker2:

Are you pissed? Jesus n Jose couldn't make a decent team out if the shite Bates n Harvey have collected at ER. Larry couldn't, Colin can't. Warnock has no chance unless our clubs owners back him, as someone wrote earlier, getting out of L1 can be done on the cheap for a club of our stature. But you can't get out of The Champ by selling you best players n replacing them with freebies on 5 grand a week.

We can judge Colin after the summer, if hes still here, which I very much doubt.

There are two separate issues here. Building a team up and working to improve a set of players are two completely different aims. I'd say, off the top of my head, that both Poyet and Lambert did a lot with the players they inherited before they moulded their own team. Similarly, a certain Mr Grayson improved us a fair bit with only Richard Naylor and Sam Sodje as impact signings.

But so far, Colin seems to have destroyed what little quality we had. That's not good.

Oh, get fucked you daft cunt. Our team was so utterly shit we were in the top half of the table, and close to the play-offs, all fucking season. At the basic level, in that I doubt it is ever possible to gain promotion under Bates because we always sell our best players, I agree with you.

I just hate this revisionist bullshit; we weren't and aren't that bad. But our current, average, team is being poorly managed.
