It's a really lite version on the full PC game and can play a few games back to back whist the missus is watchin Enders, without worrying about the training, oppo tactics etc. which Phil mentions above.
That sounds a bit unbelieveably easy though! Need to find the balance as there's no fun in winning many games you really shouldn't be in any footy game - the odd upset is obviously fine, but winning the FA cup with York? I don't think I'd have started the 2nd season.
I does doesn't it. When your team contains such names as Casillas, Maicon, Lahm, Woodgate(!), Messi, Fabregas, Lampard, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Torres & Hulk (watch out for him in the real Prem soon) it's not that hard to demolish the bottom divisions.
L'arse beat me in the League Cup Final last night so sacked it off without saving
But, I played a version where I took Scum to the wall, and when I eventually got sacked after fielding 11 goalkeepers (Giggs in goal) and losing every game for 3 months, the new virtual manager ended up winning like crazy and lifting them into the UEFA places, with the same squad I left behind. It seems that no matter who is in your team, the database is already pre loaded with which teams will win or lose, regardless, unless you're hands on with management. For instance, I took a holiday to sign Messi and my assistant took charge against Stockport and we lost!
Fuckin' love Footy Manager games

Now I've never played CM, so fill me in: does it all have that ultra-modern Teletext vibe, or does it also actually involve action? Cos if you folks are all creaming yourselves over a game that plays out in text form with the occasional piccie, I've got this old Hobbit 5.25" disk from the 80s you might enjoy...

I followed that with a so-so 1st half of the season in the prem before winning 22 straight games from the start of 2012 to win the domestic treble, I've done this with Snoddy, Howson, Gradel, Johnson & Becchio starting the majority of games and without spending more than 3m on any new player.
Now in season 3, 5 league games in (5 wins, 12 scored, 1 conceded), I'm still unbeaten in 2012 having won all but 3 (a last game of the season draw at home when it didn't matter and then the FA cup final and charity shield, both of which I won on pens).
I can thank the top rated tactic from the CM forum's open tactics league for this, having switched to it following back to back defeats in late 2011.

Aaah, I remember the good old days of wonder tactics. They don't seem to exist for the current version and the computer teams seem to adapt to your style of play if you don't change it.

Must admit I haven't sought out any tactics for 2011 as I thought it would give the game a bit more longevity.Proud to be Leeds wrote:thechubbyone wrote:Aaah, I remember the good old days of wonder tactics. Franky's Blitz worked wonders in FM2010. He had some training methods to go with the tactic, and the players improve amazingly!
Am yet to download 2011, but I'm sure there will be a wonder tactic out there somewhere

I missed the ability to be able to dip into the Swedish under-21 team [down, danny] & pick up loads of great players on the cheap..
I did OK with Leeds. Slightly implausibly managed to sign that guy Tiote from Newcastle as a defensive midfielder. Had some joy playing a 4-2-3-1 with Grella as lone striker, a narrowish midfield of BJ, LJW and Kilkenny breaking forwards, and Tiote & Faye protecting the back four.
Not sure I’ll have the patience to get as far as Christmas with it. Think I got to a decent playoff spot in late autumn.
The final straw was Gary McSheffrey 'notching a brace' against me for Coventry. A slim consolation was that the lads managed to keep Doyler quiet in the same game.
