Speculation rife that Bradley Wright-Philips is lined up to sign soonest.
Good news if true, with that name he'll slot straight in.

Isn't he at Carlton? Would he leave a newly promoted side likely to have a crack at going straight up to come to us??

I'd take that.

Where's Danny these days?

BWP looks a little bit Lloyd Sam 2.0, like The Robbie Rogers is inevitably Mikey Grella 2.0.

Hmm.

When I think BWP/Leeds I usually think BridgeWater Place.

A quick glance at his wiki page makes for unexceptional reading. aged 27, has been sliding steadily down the divisions. not a regular scorer. more than one distinct incidence of police attention . I must say that this more or less tallies with the impression I had of him as a player.

Exactly. What's not to love? He sounds exactly right for us.

So, basically Lloyd Sam 2.0? He's a similar sort of player, similar age and even at the same club we got Sam from.

Is Sam out of contract at the end of the season? If not, I'd bring him back. He's not a great player but he's a better winger than Webber, Nunez, White, Rogers or McCormack. He's always plugged away with assists when he has played and although he's very far from good, he at least offers a little bit of creative threat which we've missed without Gradel. He's not very good but he's already here and he's relatively harmless sat on the bench. He can obviously still score given the opportunity.

Unless he's out of contract, then fuck him off obviously.

i suppose the 'he's crap but his dad was outstanding' angle rings a number of bells too.

BWP is the sort of signing i'd expect us to be making if we'd just avoided relegation & were looking to bolster the squad a little to make sure we didn't struggle next year. but for a playoff push i'm fairly sure he's not good enough.

He only signed an 18 month deal when he joined them from Plymouth, so he'd be free... might be some mileage there although they'll no doubt offer him a new deal and probably be able to offer him as good a deal as we'd be willing to. Maybe he is Lloyd Sam 2.0, but as mentioned somewhere above, Lloyd Sam has contributed well going forward, some assists and goals here or there. He's just suffered from a lack of effort defensively... highlighted more by Gradel's high work rate, I have absolutely no clue whether BWP would represent a step up or not in that regard.

I wouldn't even particularly want SWP, never mind his considerably less effective brother.

i was reffering to the fact warncok has said he is after 5/6 signings that will make snoddy want to stay i dont think snoddy would be impressed by this, but that doesnt mean he wont sign

This whole 'Signing on 1st May' thing. Is that a clue that the player will be coming from a Championship club? Afterall, the Championship is the only division that finishes this weekend. League 1 and 2 goes on until the following weekend and the Premier League the weekend after that. I wouldn't expect us to announce the signing of a player that is still 'active' - particularly one embroiled in a relegation battle (e.g. Kenny or Hill)?

Just idle thoughts like

My money is on the lad from Pompey, I recon their financial situation adds to the urgency, and here we are wanting to act as early as we possibly can, for a change. Most clubs would presumably wait until after the final game to enter negotiations for a contracted player and if we were talking about a freebie, he wouldn't technically sign until mid summer + we'd presumably be less inclined to keep it quiet.
