Cripes.

I guess, Clayton, well, he's our best central midfielder, isn't he? I mean, I'm not saying he's good, but he's better than Pugh, Brown and, erm, Thompson.

He hasn't been great, but we got him from City reserves and his attitude on the pitch has always been fine, seems strange to get shut rather than just run him down on his presumably (relatively) crappy wage as a reserve.

I just cant get my head around the Clayton thing. All the other decisions seem sensible enough, but Claytons smacks of either brinkmanship between the club and his agent, or (more likely) Warnock knowing he needs to raise some funds and not wanting to lose Lees, Snoddy, RM44 or Lucy.

No Bromby or Kisnorbo on the out lists either

Neither PK nor Bromby transfer listed. I guess their fitness might not be good enough for anyone to even think about offering them a deal.

Galling that 'Pughy' will still be plying his abysmal trade in LS11.

It's a bit frustrating trying to comment on the list without knowing how much individuals earn. Probably a waste of breath but my take on the listed players.

Clayton - probably not earning loads at Leeds so will be really easy to find a club to pay a modest fee. dunno whether we'll get an offer good enough to persuade us to sell. I expect we'll get an offer of about £500k from a birmingham city/west ham/wolves type club, a reasonably moneyed championship one, and bates will flip a coin to decide whether to accept or not.
Connolly - can't begin to imagine what he earns. probably not buckets & buckets of cash. a borderline lg 1/champ club might be happy to take him off our hands on a free on the same kind of money
O'Brien - I half doubt we'll be able to find anyone to take on all of his wages. may have to give him a small payoff.
Rachubka - I'd rather not think about it.
Paynter - could be another small payoff needed, failing at leeds when we play with one main striker in becchio is one thing, but his brighton 'experience' must be a serious blot on his CV.
Nunez - he'll be earning peanuts. shouldn't be too difficult to get him a move to league one, possibly with an anthony elding style nominal fee involved.

I'm quite intrigued about what Warnock will say to back up his decisions today. Due on YR at 5.30pm I believe.

You can't dump a player who's going to be out for 6-12 months, would never happen. So Bromby was safe as soon has he got injured. Paddy is the same really, need to get him fit, but I doubt he'll play for us again.

Aye, best case, we'll get them fit and they'll go out on loan before being released next summer.

Probably the same for Somma sadly, unless he makes it back for the start of pre-season.

So, provisionally staying (barring a decent bid coming in for 'em) are: Snodgrass, Becchio, McCormack, White, Lees, Brown, Lonergan, Pugh, Taylor ...any more?
I was correct!

That's dependent on White signing a deal too, he's out of contract this summer. Would say the same for Brown, but I guess we could still choose to activate his 2nd year on the same terms.

You missed Thompson, Somma & Rogers. We've also offered 7 academy lads pro terms, and technically I guess you should include Cairns as a currently contracted pro.

Oh yes, Lonners. Thought he'd be out.
Maybe he would be if juggling the money wasn't so difficult.

Warnock only uses one keeper meaning Lonners is still our number 1 :(

On the bench, yes, not at the club.

He's got Cairns, then maybe bring in a freebie? Can't see him spending money on a keeper. Lonergan still number one I would say.

just caught up with all this and am fucked off clayton is being booted. alongside snoddy and lees, he was a player to build a team around as he's a bloody good player. i know he may have been inconsistent, but it was his first full season in the team.

for me the comparison with howson is fair - i reckon he'll go to the premiership, somewhere like west brom and prove himself a decent player, while we're stuck with a load of old crap in the division below. :thumbd:
