Anyone watch Mrs Browns Boys. I got series one on DVD at Christmas and bought the second series disc myself, but it's 'feckin' superb!!

Went to see "Mrs Brown's Boys" live on stage at Sheffield City Hall t'other week, much funnier live.

You can add Mrs Browns Boys to Celebrity Juice, Fonejacker and The Inbetweeners on the list of cult British comedy I have never seen

Seen three of S01 Thrones now, its not getting any better, so I downloaded Homeland instead.. What Thrones has done is remind me just how fucking great ROME was, it's up there with Sopranos for me, maybe better. Thrones is like a kiddies version of ROME, will probably see a few more to give it a decent chance though.

FER wrote:I'm inclined to agree, slightly. The last couple of series they extended to 45 minute(?) episodes and filmed it away from the audience and chucked some canned laughter in there, whilst also making more use of CGI. This time, they've gone back to basics (if you listen to Bob L, Dan JJ & Doug Naylor's twitterings) so I'm hopeful for a better outing this time around. I think since Rob Grant left the show, his input has been sorely missed and I'm not overly convinced they can get back to what they had in the middle series', but will live in hope until, like AP says, it turns out to dash my high expectations, leaving me weeping sorrowfully into my JMC vended beverage, staring wistfully at my London Jets Zero Gee Football poster

If you (or anyone, for that matter) are interested FER, and haven't seen it already, this fansite has reports from the recordings. I'm still not sure whether I'm gonna read em yet or just wait, but just putting it out there like...

I find Walking Dead too talky - and the only break from that is shooting zombies in the head.
My recent fave TV was watching all the complete series re-runs of The Wire and Deadwood. But now that Mad Men and the Killing are coming back I am all set.

If you haven't already downloaded season, sorry series 2 of The Killing, it starts tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.

This site is pretty good for UK air dates for US TV shows: http://www.geektown.co.uk/uk-air-dates/

The Good Wife - legal eagle type thing with a political twist, pretty good (far better than it sounds)

Yes, I caught up with about 7 episodes of 'The Good Wife' this past weekend - excellent TV.

Thought the US version of the killing was woeful meself. The Danish one on BBC4 was pretty good however and this 'The Bridge' thing is going okay too.

Blocked at work due to "profanity, blog/wiki" but yeah, dunno if I want to ruin it for myself.

Hatfields and McCoys. Miniseries by History Channel, featuring Kevin Costner.
Surprisingly excellent. Story of two feuding redneck families in W Virginia in the 1880s, gripping stuff. I'm no Costner fan but he is great in this. Very good script, sensible understated direction, good acting all round, shame about the soundtrack.
Why the fuck do some companies (History Channel the major culprits here) try their best to spoil good shows with over-the-top sound levels?
Dunno if it's available in the UK, worth a download if it isn't.
I was correct!

Seen both versions, and pretty much like them both. I quite like the atmospheric rain dampend Seattle setting. I am currently recording series 2 on Sky+ but haven't got around to watching it, so not sure if the second series is good yet.

Too many things to watch. I still haven't watched series 1 of 'The Walking Dead' yet, and I want to download 'Homeland' that I never got around to watching. Just can't keep up due to work and family commitments.

It depends on your humour. I happen to think it's funny. Anything that pokes fun at the American TV Network and how it operates, is a win for me.

The humour is a little bit out there, so it isn't your standard observational comedy. Not everyone gets the humour on this show, so why don't you download a couple of episodes and see if it's for you, before you buy the DVD. Or just buy them and if you don't like it sell them on Ebay!

By the way, Alec Baldwin is a comedy genius in this.

Agreed. I thought it would be utter shite, but to my surprise found it funny as fuck.

Was up at stupid o'clock this morning and just happened to catch an odd bit of a football documentary, which I was intrigued by and have just watched in full on 4od.

It is this: Kingsmeadow

It's only short, but it's just quite a lovely thing. Also features a bit of footage of the Dripping Pan, right at the end.

Give it a go.

Just completed S2 or the US Killing.
Worth it. All the city politics and local business mixed with Native American stuff. Then against that the small stuff - the detectives and victims families. And they did give you enough info to narrow it down and guess whodunnit.

DVR'd S1 of Homeland on Saturday. Expectations high.

What's this 2012 show that starts over here next week?
