As the tweet went, ‘Ross McCormack starting a Junior Firpo chant wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card, but here we are.’

From the concourse at Hillsborough emerged a video that just about summed up the feeling of elation that Leeds fans experienced that weekend. Here’s how it goes. The fans go quiet. One lone voice pipes up: “His name is Junior…” Hold on a sec, that’s a very familiar, Scottish accent. As the rest of the fans joined in and jumped around our former number 44, I started thinking about the redemption arc of Ross McCormack.

From the McContract jibes and his exit under a cloud ten years ago, to leading chants at Hillsborough, via London, Birmingham and Australia, the last decade has been quite the journey for Rossco. But where does that leave him in the eyes of Leeds United fans? What is his legacy at the club?
