Our 1-1 draw at home with Ipswich on 28th April didn’t quite relegate us, so chairman Ken Bates decided to finish the job, putting Leeds into administration and triggering a ten-point penalty.

This was the first time in history that Leeds United had been relegated to the third tier, so that was quite enough chaos as it was, but not all we were getting. Bates teaming up with Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet in the dugout, plus Gwyn Williams as a ‘technical director’, gave an unpleasant Chelsea tinge to the whole fiasco. Why couldn’t they all have stayed at Stamford Bridge and relegated them?
